I am looking for a book about marriages. Specifcally something like how to rekindle the flame, how to fall back in love, how to save your marriage, that sort of thing. I want a book that doesn't preach, doesn't condem certian things, and one that is a good read. I'm also a stay at home mom, so maybe something to do with how to focus on your husband and children, not just your kids. I really love my husband and want things to work, but if we keep going the way we are now we will be divorced in a few years. Thanks in advance! What is a good book about marriage?
the book we read during counsoling was called
fit to be tied ..
dont remember the author tho
good bookWhat is a good book about marriage?
You don't need a book. A man's needs are simple and easy to fill.
All you need to do is make sure that when he gets home from work, there is a hot meal on a plate waiting for him, his socks are folded, his children are alive, and allow him a little time to come home from work and decompress before you start telling him everything you did that day. Then, when he wants sex, you give it up.
If you do that, you'll have the greatest marriage ever. Easy.

get the book Men are from Mars and Women are frm Venus very good book
The proper care and feeding of good marriages.
There is also the proper care and feeding of good husbands.
Basically the book re-interates what you said you'd like to happen. Women tend to lose focus on their husbands once the children come.
';The Five Love Languages'; is a great book that I think would help most married couples. It doesn't fall into the category of ';rekindling the flame'; as you said but it does help couples better understand what they need to feel loved. The book is about the idea that each person needs love in different ways - or in different languages. For instance, men usually show love by providing for their family. They think bringing home a paycheck or buying you something expensive is the correct way to show love. If you're the kind of woman who needs love shown in that way, then that's great. But if you're like most women, you need to have your husband bring you flowers for no reason, listen to you, be there for you...etc. This is an entirely different love language. It basically says it's important for your partner to learn how to speak your love language.
the proper care and feeding of husbands by laura schlessinger.
every modern woman should get a copy of it when we get the free tampons at secondary school, its that vital to making a perfect marriage.
if more people read it then there would be no need for divorce.(unless your mans an abusive ***.)

I need your help.my husband revealed a shocking confessions.?
We met online Nov. of 2003.We met in person Feb. of 2004.I thought he loves me.Coz i fell in love right away.I got pregnant. We got married August of 2004.Last year,we celebrated our first year anniversary and we just went out to eat.No flowers or anything. He treated me like im his helper.Do this do that.Ive done everything he wants me to do to prove him that I love him.I helped his mom with her business too.Three days ago, he told me that when we met he didnt love me.The worst is he didnt even love me when we got married. We're married now for almost 2 years.Ive say that's cheating. He cheated on my feelings. He said that he learned how to love me .And he love me now.I dont know what to do.Pls help me.I value my marriage but i dont wanna be with someone who doesnt love me.It hurts me so much thinking that my wedding is suppose to be the happiest day in my life but it isn't after he revealed his secrets.I need your help.my husband revealed a shocking confessions.?
To have your husband trust you enough to admit he didn't love you in the past (or, maybe more accurately, he wasn't SURE he loved you) but tell you he has learned to love you and LOVES YOU NOW can be a wonderful act of love in itself. If you do love him, then stop listening with your PRIDE and listen with your heart instead.
And who says your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest in your life? Why not think of it as the first day of your life together as a family. Then there will be room for even happoer days, like your baby's birth day. Don't spend your life measuring happiness by looking backwards...look forwards instead. Good luck.I need your help.my husband revealed a shocking confessions.?
It is possible not to love a person at first and over time love to come. I believe it is best for a person to grow to love because when you learn to love, that means that they have accepted everything about that person, good and bad. And if that person stayed in the marriage, that shows that the love for has developed and grown over the course of the years you have been together. Don't fret. Growing into love is a GOOD THING!
Dear, give him one more chance since he's willing to confess. Think of it as forgiving him and at least let your child experience a full family warmth.
If it doesn't improve, then sack him out of your life.
Im really sorry that happend. Well it looks like you guys getting pregnant rushed the wedding a bit. Maybe he had feeling for you but he was not all the way to the love yet. If he married you is because he knew that you are the perfect person for him and that he was and would fall in love with you. He might of ';loved'; you but it took him a bit to fall ';In love'; it happends to everyone. Women tend to fall more rapidly and quicker than men do. If he married you is because he really did love you and it was probably hard for him to addmit. It happend to me too at the beginning of my relationship, my b/f just did not want to let his feelings go. he was scared, he was hurt before but I gave it time. We've been dating for now 4 years and now we are engaged. Maybe thats what happend to your husband. Just give time some time. Hes probably trying to protect himself from hurt or not treating you nice not to get so attached. Things went kind of fast with your relationship as it is.
As farest him not treating you very nice. Thats a no no! Dont matter who it is you should know that you deserve better. When he does things that you do not like let him know politely. You are not his made, you are not his waiter, you are his wife and the mother of HIS kids. let him know you will like some respect. Please dont let this problem get too big. You should sit down and talk to him about what he wants, what you want and your feelings openly. A marriage is built mostly on communication and trust. he lied? Yes. but he probably did it to protect you because he knew it will hurt you and then maybe decided that it was best to be honest. This seems a bit like if you guys did not know eachother well when you married.
If you care about your marriage, try to work it out but if he treats you that bad and you can tell that the relationship gives you more pain than happiness is time to have a serious talk.
leave him!!!he just wants you to do stuff for him
Can you tell you moved a little too fast here? Look deep before you leap. I hope you can work it out, but if he says he doesn't love you, you'll only be miserable trying to make somebody stay. Sometimes moving on hurts, but you;ll be a better person for. Next time take time out to know a person in and out as much as you can.
Get over it. He says he loves you now.
Dump him, he's not worth this ****.
Leave this dumbass loser
How can you stay with someone who doesn't love you
Do you value yourself that little
Get the hell outta there!
He loves you now and that is what is important. You all barely knew each other before you got pregnant but he was a man and married you anyway. He could have ran off and never been there for you and the baby.
Don't crush him for being honest with you or he won't be anymore. You all have been together for two years now. Keep living happily and raising your child. The past is the past.
Good luck!
Do you believe he loves you? Do you love him? If you love him and believe he loves you, the past should stay in the past...it doesn't matter anymore.
If you don't love him, or are certain he doesn't love you, then you need to reconsider the marriage, as that will be bad for your child.
Sounds like marriage counseling would be a very good idea.
It sounds like he is using you. Leave him and enjoy looking after your baby. Enjoy living alone for awhile and then go find someone that does love and respect you.loan natural hair

Remembering past loves. Fair to your life partner?
I'm a pretty rational person, and I love my husband and plan to always be with him. Yet I often have very vivid dreams about a particular past love, that won't stop recurring. Every so often, like once a year, or two years, I start thinking about him and wondering how he is and what went wrong with us or rather what could have been. I cant stop this happening. Does anyone else have this? I have to say again I am totally happy and settled with my husband. But in a way, I had to choose between the two as I met them and fell in love around withing the same year (complicated). And I don't use the work 'love' lightly as I have only had 2 real loves in my life, although I have had plenty of other boyfriends. What are your thoughts?Remembering past loves. Fair to your life partner?
The fact of the matter is, your past is part of your life, and it cannot be erased. It should be fair to your life partner when you remember things like past boyfriends. If he loves you, he will embrace your past as well. And if he really does love you, he wouldn't question anything or be uncomfortable with things like this. As for thinking about other past loves and what to do about it, go with the flow is my approach. Thinking too much can really confuse your brain and you won't react rationally after a while(without being conscious of it) and you'll regret it later. My advice is simply just to be happy and don't think! Haha, hard, i know! :) Good luck.Remembering past loves. Fair to your life partner?
It's all about you, isn't it?
That's normal because everyone has past loves in their life. Everyone dreams about them.
Husbands realize we women have had past loves that we always remember and they accept it. Mine does.
My husband knows about my past 2 loves and I know about his three. It's in the past and we never forget the past. We always dream about the past.
Every year I dream/think about my first fiance who was murdered in 1993. Then there is my first ';partner'; whom I dated for four months who I wonder about, but know has been married for the past seven years to someone who tolerates him.
I met my husband months after my first fiance died and after I knew my first ';partner';. My first ';partner'; never loved me back, but my first fiance was my soulmate. I love my husband, but not the same way I loved my soulmate. I hope that makes sense.
You're not alone in this.
You had only two real loves in your life. The reason why the previous one keeps popping
up in your memory is because it did have the chance to mature and metamorphose into habit. The actual one has become a piece of museum.
I hope you don't share your memories with your husband because he might decide to rush you into a change from an old fantasy into a new reality which will cause you a lot of pain.

My husband confused me! Please offer your advice??
My husband dated a gal eleven years ago. He has told me that he fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. When he asked her, she rejected him and said she wasn't ready for marriage. My husband told me this woman left him to find a man who didn't want a commitment.
I am not questioning my husband, but doesn't that sound strange? My husband also told me (last night in fact) he is not in love with this woman, he loves me. But he does have love for her, just is not in love with her. (Thinks about her sometimes and hopes shes doing ok. Wherever she might be. His words. ) I had no idea how to respond. When he noticed that I was speechless, he started apoligizing, telling me he shouldn't of said anything.
I trust my husband, and I know he loves me. Very much. I know that he wouldn't leave me. But...how do you respond to something like that?!My husband confused me! Please offer your advice??
You don't need to respond to it. I'm a man, happily married for 12 years and I have to admit that at times I do wonder what life would have been like if things had worked out with girlfriend A, or if I'd got together with girl B and so on.
It's only natural, and doesn't mean (at least to me) that I love my wife any less. I met my wife, fell in love and married and like any marriage we have our ups and downs. I can't imagine being with anybody else until the day I die, and I hope (and pray) that nothing will happen to change that.
Before I got together with my wife I was in a relationship that ended badly, yet I don't hold any animosity and (like your husband) do hope she's doing well. There's no chance we would ever get back together, but even though it ended badly I don't wish her ill.
Does that make me a bad person? I hope not, I wouldn't cross the street to avoid her, but I wouldn't ignore her either. Should my wife be worried? I don't think so. I hope (and trust) that she knows me well enough to know that there's no risk.
At the end of the day if you trust your husband, which it sounds like you do, then accept it for what it is - honesty. From what you've said I don't believe he's going to stray and after 11 years you don't have anything to worry about. My husband confused me! Please offer your advice??
my question to you is why would he tell you this 11 yrs later. if it was before you came along it shouldnt matter to either of you.. if this came out of the blue then it something thats on his mind and had felt he had to confess it. that also makes me wonder why he felt the need to tell you all this. i would ask him what made him feel he needed to tell you that. has he seen her in passing and it brought up old feelings or maybe its just nothing at all and was just on his mind.. if he was willing to tell you what he did then he should be willing to answer a few questions that he has made you think of. either way it might not be nothing but you wont know if you dont ask.. good luck.. i hope its nothing but a passing thought he had. good luck
I wonder how my one ex-boyfriends is doing too sometimes. I hope he found a nice wife (I'm glad it wasn't me) and is as happy in his life as I am in mine.
Hopefully this is what your husband feels.
if you trust your husband, then why is this even an issue? Just say, ';ok honey. I love you!'; and move on. End of story!
Who doesn't think about people they have dated in the past and wish well for the ones they really cared about? I am sure you have had the same feelings.
This is no big deal. Be happy that he is telling you and not keeping it all to himself. If he thought you would have something to worry about he would not have told you.
Stop obsessing over this.
It's best not to ask too much about his past.
Tomorrow is our 29th anniversary and I still think about two men I cared about very much before I married my husband. Don't make mountains out of molehills.
Your husbands dammed if he does and dammed if he doesnt! It was eleven years ago! Hes with you now and loves you and your children. So he has a past before you. so what!
Stop beating yourself up over it and move on with your life! You and your family deserve to be happy, so enjoy what youve got and get over it!
Typically a husband wouldn't share that information with you. but, on the other hand, it seems he is fully comfortable with you and feels like he can discuss anything with you. If you are hurt by this, let it be known, but also thank him for being so open and honest. This could build honest and open communication between the two of you.
We all have our very first love and it may of been someone bfore we met our spouse, there is always a memory of them.So no it doesn't sound strange at all. Be glad that he can open up to you.
you really dont. i guess you just say ';okay sweetie'; and really move on from there. its perfectly possible and normal to love someone but not be in love with him. what he means by ';love'; is love for a friend. perhaps a close friend.
EDIT: id say just drop the whole thing ever happened. its something he said and that was all no need to constantly bring it back up again. there is nothing to be jealous of or fear really.
I suggest that if he apologizes again for that, cut him off and tell him not too. Why? Because he shouldn't apologize. You understand why he cares for the woman. If he was having an affair, he wouldn't tell you. You trust him, and let him know that. It is a people-thing to care for other people you know or have feelings for. Of all, tell your husband that you're glad that he's being open about how he feels.
Then again, being a male, my opinion may be rather biased. Although in my point of view it isn't.
My friend is in the same type of story but opposite you. She is am married now, and there was a guy she was with right before her husband. Let me tell you, she still thinks about him atleast once a week. She always wonders how he is doing, and she tells me that if she were to see him again, even though she loves her husband very much, she would probably fall back in the love with that guy the way she felt with him when they were together. Your husband says he doesnt love her like that cause its been so long since he saw her, but if he did see her again, all those feelings would come rushing back, even though he loves you too. YOu dont have to worry about it until he sees her again, so ... i dont know what to tell you. You dont want to believe it because it hurts, but its true, even if he denies it, I think that if he saw her again, and if given the chance, he would either leave you for her, or if he loves you too much to leave, he would just cheat with her, and stay with you.
i find that ';love';is a very meaningless word...
only because... some grade school girls always say i love ____ and so on.. but then the next week they are over them and love another...
so as to you husband.. if he still has feelings for this chick.... then let him vent about her 4 qa while then he will realize that you probably have better qualities than miss.memory lane.
good luck
11 years ago! And he is your husband. Doesn't that say enough. I think about my ex too, I think about how him and his family is doing...and there is nothing wrong with that
You should appreciate the fact that he has been so open and honest with you. He has obviously worked out that, while he does still love her, as a friend, you are the one that he is really in love with.
It is normal for him to wonder what happened to a woman that he loved and wanted to marry. You have a very good relationship for him to tell you this. He trusts you enough to tell you things like this. You can't get much better than that. It is not strange. There are a lot of people that are not ready for marriage when others are. Some of them are just not smart enough not to settle for what they do not want. I would tell him that I am glad that he feels comfortable enough to tell you something like that and that it is alright. Do not worry about her or question his love for you.
well, tell him exactly how you feel
you could say something like, oh, well how come you never told me this before..
He wanted to marry her, so I am sure he was in live with her and realy cared for her, he was rejected and I am sure that hurt, so it is realy natural tto think about her now and then.
sometimes in life we will sit back and just reminise about our past and when we are doing this and different things enter our minds we may think, I wonder what would have happened if............... or i wonder how things would be today if i had done this.or this would have happened..............
I am sure your husband was just thinking back through some old times,,and you should just talk to hiim, keep a good path of communication and not let it bother you
Sounds like your husband loves you very much, so much i fact that he is comfortable in telling you about a first love.
That kind of trust and love is rare and you should cherish it and him. He can still have love in his heart for someone that he once loved and it does not take away from his love for you at all.
As for your quitting your job to stay home, that should be a decision the two of you talk over and weigh the consequenses before it is done.
Good Luck
Don't worry yourself to much I know that your fear is that what would happen if this girl where to come back into his life would he leave you for her. You know that he loves you and it is o.k. for you to feel like this. Just remember that this is someone from the past and you are his present and future you know in your heart that he wouldn't leave you. You can have love for someone and not be in love with them it is the kind of love that you have for a friend that you wish for the best and care for their well being. I say you just forget about it because it is only going to torture you and in the process you might push your husband away because he is going to say that you don't trust him. You love your husband and he obviously loves you or else he wouldn't be so sorry keep on going with your lives together and supporting each other. I hope I was able to help.
That must make you feel terrible to have him tell you he thinks of her sometimes... But after awhile it should maybe not be something you think about. If you two have a strong relationship and you love eachother you dont have to sweat it. Things happen for a reason so since they didnt marry, you met and fell in love and that should be what you think about most.
I am not questioning my husband, but doesn't that sound strange? My husband also told me (last night in fact) he is not in love with this woman, he loves me.
How did your relationship with your significant other change after the baby?
I love my husband dearly. We've been married for almost 3 years, and we don't really have any major issues, aside from small bickering now and then. I don't sleep in the same bed as him though because our mattress is too soft for me and I feel more comfortable on the couch. Is there anything wrong with that? We have no intimacy issues or anything I just prefer not to share a bed with him.
Also I want to know how relationships changed after the baby came. Did it get weaker, stronger, fall apart, etc.?
Thanks! How did your relationship with your significant other change after the baby?
haha I understand not wanting to share a bed. My husband is a bad dreamer and throws his arms about all night. It only took me getting hit once for us to get a Cali. King. All is great now. Our relationship is still the same as before. But this isn't our first child. We've been married 8 years and I still love him as much as ever. :)How did your relationship with your significant other change after the baby?
I can't comment on the main question b/c I have no children, but as far as not sleeping together, that is not a big deal at all. Some people really prefer sleeping alone, or, as in your case, maybe the bed isn't very comfortable. I love cuddling in bed more than anything in the world but when it's time to sleep I like my own personal space. I can't relax when someone is right up next to me.
Well, it's not really a problem if you guys prefer that kind of setting. Regarding the baby, of course it should make your relationship stronger and closer since its one thing that will bind you guys forever and maybe, it will also bring more intimacy to your relationship.
After a baby comes it gets stronger in a sense but weaker in a sense you are more strong cause you share a human being that you brought into this world and it gets weaker cause you are moer tired and you just want to sleep cause of staying up with the baby all the time
Mine did. We love eachother but we've become more roommates than lovers. We still give an occasional kiss and still say I love you, but there's no passion behind that.
No everyone changes though, some couples change for the better.
Our life now revolves around our son. If you are more comfortable on the couch then that is ok...you are pregnant that is your right, to be comfortable.
Our marriage has mostly remained the same. A few things that changed would be my husband is more in tuned to my needs somehow. He helps me more around the house, with laundry or taking our son out to play so I can clean. Since he stays home with our son when I work 2 days in the week, he knows what I go through during the day so he understands that I can't get it all done and he doesn't expect anything of me.
And since I work full time, I understand how he feels when he comes home from work and needs to relax for a little bit.
I find that we compliment each other and where one falls the other picks up...vice versa. All this has come around since our son was born. So things are better in our relationship.
Right after the baby was born, I would say it made us much closer. As time has gone on, it has made us drift apart some (my baby is 11 months old).
I think we are still trying to work out time for ourselves (together and separate) and not feeling guilty about leaving the baby. We are also going thru a difficult phase with baby waking constantly and also wakign at 5 AM and not wanting to go back to bed. We are both exhausted and have no time for ourselves - we both work full-time and are worn out by 9 PM.
We do tend to get frustrated with each other more easily now, BUT we also apologize and talk about our feelings more than before. I guess we feel we need to make an extra effort because of the baby.
I'm hoping this is just a phase because we really need to get back to our ';couple time';.

If I marry someone who is OK, but am not in love with him, would marriage ';create'; love?
Does the very fact that you are married %26amp; he is your husband now (or spouse) create love?
I have never been married so I don't know how ';feelings'; change (or if at all they change) after one enters matrimony with someone.
I understand, if we already love someone, then our love might increase with the marriage-bond, but what if we are not in love with the person? Suppose they are a friend who likes you, or suppose it's an arranged match where u r OK with the person, %26amp; there is not much time to know the person, and u are not in love yet.
What are the chances of falling in love after marriage. If I marry someone who is OK, but am not in love with him, would marriage ';create'; love?
I suppose it could happen, but do you really want to take that chance? If I marry someone who is OK, but am not in love with him, would marriage ';create'; love?
Slim to none. If this person is is a good person all around, then you may grow to love and care for him in that way-and vice versa. Just because you are married, feelings don't just grow into love. Its just a piece of paper...you have to work on and build a relationship and be compatible. I was butt crazy in love w/my husband at one point while dating. Not so much anymore. We had a kid, we had to start planning and budgeting... it shows you the kind of person the other is, and if they aren't rational or if they are selfish and handle things WAY differently than you would...that can create resentment, which DEFINITELY doesn't foster a growing love.
I would say you should get to know the person VERY well... just being OK isn't good enough at all.
Marriage creates nothing! It is a state of being.
You create and control your own feelings. Arranged marriages have about the same or a lower divorce rate than marriages between people in love, but that may be because of cultural bias in the countries that regularly practice arranged betrothals.
You must establish common bonds of trust and mutual goals for a marriage to succeed. Love will change. You determine who you love and I don't mean the infatuation that most of the western world calls love, but true love. It is an active and changing creation that two people have to work at. Arranged or otherwise has nothing to do with that.
~D
It can happen, but most often than not, it won't. It used to work that way with arranged marriages, in time, some of the couples would start to really care for each other. But back then, divorce was not an option. Now that it is, it is hard to keep together couples who love each other, let alone a couple that doesn't love each other.
A wedding has no change on how you feel.
TIme and genuine commitment to a life together and building passion might.
NO NO NO Only resentment
Some marry for love. Some for money. Some are lucky enough to have both. If you are not in love, and think that marriage will change that , you are prolly wrong... if anything, you will wake up one morning and say to yourself';What did I do?'; If this happens, you become divorced and possibly seen as used goods.
Avoid it by being absolutely sure of your decision, follow your heart, not your head.
Sometimes love can grow out of this kind of relationship, but at that point so much depends on background and other factors. Typically, Americans do not fall in love after they get married. They fall out of love.
Arranged marriages are different than love marriages for one major reason. People grow up knowing that their parents are going to arrange their marriage. They have spent many years accepting their fate and hoping that their parents picked well. Usually those people want their marriages to succeed because failure reflects on their parents and divorce is not an option.
Love marriages on the other hand require proper understanding. A successful love marriage is based upon two best friends who trust, respect and love each other in that order. Notice that love is last.
By the same token, your example of marrying a friend that you are not crazy about is not going to work. The trust is there, but the respect is not so clear. There is a chance that you will not respect your partner because he has feelings for you that you do not share.
Take care,
Troy
50/50 you could fall in love with him.Or you may see that you have made an mistake and then you will question your self thinking do you even still like the guy.
Arranged marriages seem to work great so marrying someone youre not crazy in love with initially maybe isn't so bad, but as long as you genuinely like him and care for him and as long as he genuinely likes and cares for you. I think love grows based on how the other person treats you. If he's kind and caring and giving and faithful and helpful than you can't help to fall in love, but it won't be the kind of lusty love that you see in young marriages (the kind that always fades away) or the kind that you see in stupid Hollywood movies.
Marriage creates many things. Falling IN love is certainly NOT one of those things!
PLEASE do NOT marry ANYONE on such a premise. Think of marriage as a garden. And the garden you expect will be weeds, rather than a beautiful array of colorful flowers........
Keep this person as a good friend, and see where it goes.
If I marry someone who is OK, but am not in love with him, would marriage ';create'; love?
NOPE
I don't think the chances are good that you will fall in love after marriage. I think you would get comfortable with the situation and mistake it for love, if your just OK with the person than they are not the one for you.
no it is not likly don't do it
I wouldn't count on it. Marriage isn't easy and going into it without love might not be a good idea.
It takes a real partnership to make a marriage work.
I'm sorry, the chances of falling in love after marriage happens in those books with Fabio on the cover. Why are you marrying this person anyway? Are the circumstances or the benefits of this marriage way better than the lack of love? That is for you to decide.
Marriage doesn't make you fall in love with the person. If anything else, marriage strengthens what is already there. If you don't love this person, just get to know them first. maybe you will fall in love then you can get married. If not, then move on to the next person and find that love.
By golly, when you meet ';the one';, you will know. Now imagine if you finally meet ';the one'; and you're stuck in a loveless marriage..with kids.
lots of arranged marriages work. they tend to have a lower divorce rate than non-arranged, but that might have a lot to do with other cultural factors.
